Anne Nyaga, CBS, is a Kenyan expert on agricultural policy, climate-smart agriculture, and farming. She has, for the last fifteen years, immersed herself in agriculture as a career, starting off as a farmer and now spearheads policy formulation and reform in the sector.
Anne is currently the Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperatives. She was appointed to her position in January 2020 by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta. Her most notable achievement in this position has been her effort to revive the 4-K Clubs, an initiative that aims to re-introduce agriculture, climate conservation, and related activities to primary school pupils between the ages of 8-14 years.
Before her appointment, she served as a member of the County Executive Committee, Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Embu County. She was appointed to this position in 2017 by H.E. Governor Martin Wambora. During her time, she shaped agricultural policy within the county, and was instrumental in the implementation of various agricultural projects throughout the county.
Anne has been involved in various policy development forums, and is a keen farmer, with various dairy and horticultural projects, as well as watermelon farming. She has authored a watermelon farming manual, which targets budding watermelon farmers across the continent.
